I am pleased to show you our Project List for the next financial year. Our organisation is made up of a volunteer board who are all actively involved in many facets of the Cessnock Community, and I couldn’t be prouder of our team, and our results.

Membership Development – Lead by Geoff Walker
This important Project ensures that we are able to continue our core work, to enhance the business environment for all members and businesses within our region.

Cessnock Stomp Festival – Lead by Rienna DeVisser
Our flagship event injecting in excess of $8Mil into the economy over 3 years, and bringing over 40,000 visitors to Vincent St over that time. This event showcases the best our region has to offer, in a unique location right in the heart of town.

Cessnock Customer Service Awards – Lead by Luke Main
A unique awards night where we don’t focus on business excellence, but more the people within those businesses who consistently deliver exceptional customer service. Each year the theme is picked to ensure that these people can come and join us for a fun night, but also showcase how important Customer Service is in Cessnock.

Networking & Events – Lead by Clint Ekert
Networking is the key to success in business, ensure that people know who you are, what you are offering, and why they should support you and your business instead. We have around 40 businesses attend each event and is a great way to meet key business people in Cessnock.

Laneway Improvement Project – Lead by Matt Evans
Improving the link between the CBD and carparking, while making these spaces more welcoming, friendly and safe is the main aim of this project. Think the laneways of Melbourne, with a local twist. Supported by local schools and artists, it is a real collaborative effort.

Business Attraction & Retention – Lead by Clint Ekert
Create a campaign to create and roll out two buy local projects in the financial year 2018/19. Create these campaigns for members to engage with locals and increase awareness of their products and services offered. Watch this space for an exciting addition to this project in the coming months.

Business Expenses & Reporting – Lead by Margaret Keighley
Our organisation as like any others, have reporting obligations, and obligations to ensure that we are effectively using the resources available to enhance the economic environment for our members.

Sustainable Cessnock Resourcing – Lead by Geoff Walker
As long term president of our organisation, Geoff leads the resourcing of the Town Coordinator Position, through from funding, reporting and effectiveness analysis.

Risk & Compliance Executive Handbook – Lead by Clint Ekert
We are working towards a resource for our executive board to familiarise themselves with our constitution, policies, procedures and whats expected of them, to ensure that any potential volunteer has a full understanding of what is required of them while working with our chamber. This is to ensure high quality outcomes for our members.

Vibrant Cessnock – Lead by Geoff Walker
Review documents and reports including the Cessnock CBD Masterplan and Commercial Precinct Project. Complete a matrix on the various events and functions occurring within the Cessnock LGA and determine the level of support from the business community. Prepare recommendations for infrastructure in the CBD, including banners and banner poles, street furniture, signage.

Sustainable Cessnock Interactions – Lead by Clint Ekert
Communicate effectively with other Chambers, and organisations in the same sphere to create a better economy and working environment for businesses

As you could imagine this is a massive work load for our Volunteer Board with support from our Town Coordinator Anthony Burke. All of our Board currently work within our community and most also hold other community organisation roles.

We would love to see some new faces join us at our AGM in November.
